Architectural Design and Consultant Center
The Architectural Design and Consultant Center is an organization established with the aim to support academic services. The Faculty of Architecture first formed the architectural academic supports in B.E. 2540 under the name of CAS: Center for Architectural Services. CAS is a regulatory organization of the university that uses the non-bureaucracy management system to deliver planning project academic support, construction design, and other related architectural research which is constructed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sombat Theeratrakulchai (former dean) and Prof. Liam Theerattanon (former head of the department)
In B.E. 2544, the organization was turned into a division in the Faculty of Architecture due to the new non-bureaucracy management system. The faculty has created CAS: Center for Architectural Services in order to support academic services, and gain fund and budget to aid the faculty’s operation under the supervision of the fund office which has the head of the fund to be responsible for all management operation in the office. All the performance of the center will directly go to the deputy dean (Prof.Taweesak kiatweerasak) and the dean (Asst. Prof Dr. Sombat Theeratrakulchai) respectively.
In B.E.2552, when the University has become a non- bureaucracy, the faculty decided to abolish and convert some divisions in the faculty and the architectural service division has converted to ADC: Architectural Design and Consult Center. The center has a design chief executive to be a chief executive of the center and has a subcommittee to give consultation regarding operation and management within the center.
Academic Services
The Architectural Design and Consultant Center provides consultations concerning with the architectures. Besides, the center has the academic services for the architectural professions, for example, building designs, landscape master plans, landscape architecture, interior designs, renovation and remodeling designs, and any architectural academic services and the development of architectural professions. Apart from that, the center also strengthens the work development with effectiveness, and advocates the energy-efficient designs. To illustrate, the Green Architecture concept is applied to the designs with the energy saving idea, the use of materials which are safe for the environment and human, green space conservation, and yearly reforestations to be the effective work development for communities and the nation into consideration.
Visions and Goals of Academic Services
The Architectural Design and Consultant Center provides the academic services for the architectural professions including building designs, landscape master plans, landscape architecture, interior designs, renovation and remodeling designs, and any architectural academic services and the development of architectural professions from professors, staff, and students of the Faculty of Architecture, Chiang Mai University. Having more experiences, they are able to improve the quality, sharpen competences, and publicize their works. Apart from that, there is the integrated project collaborating with the experienced expert professors from the Faculty of Engineering which relates to each other; thus, there are new integrated research, new concepts of energy-effective design developments and global warming mitigations, acceptable works, the standard operating procedures, the constant development of staff.
