PROGRAM DESCRIPTION


Program Information


Master of Architecture Program in Architecture (International Program) is a collaboration between the Faculty of Architecture and the Graduate School of Chiang Mai University, Thailand and the Graduate School of Science and Technology, Kyoto Institute of Technology, Japan.

The International Joint Master Degree Program in Architecture is a 2-year (four semesters) program providing enrolled students with 48 credits of course works, research and design in the facilitative contexts of Chiang Mai and Kyoto campuses.

Philosophy


The Master of Architecture Program (International Program) emphasizes advanced architectural design and research that apply traditional wisdoms and body of knowledge to solve current and future problems and respond to present and future contexts. The program provides learning experiences that allow students to explore between Thai and Japanese environmental and cultural contexts and enable graduates to collaborate in international working conditions

Objectives


To enables graduates to:
  1. Research and apply architectural body of knowledge in technology, urban environment and human behavior for design
  2. Collaborate in advanced architectural design practice responding to technological, urban environmental, and human behavioral contexts
  3. Develop learning achievements according to the program learning standard (TQF) in ethics, knowledge, intellectual skills, interpersonal relationship, responsibility, quantitative analysis, communication and information technology

Program Statement


The Jointed Master of Architecture International Program between Chiang Mai University and Kyoto Institute of Technology foster students to explore through the parallel universe of:
  • Design and research
  • Traditional wisdom and innovation
  • Intuition and body of knowledge
  • Conservation and futurism
  • Thailand and Japan
To competently be able to solve technological, environmental and human-behavioral problems in the international level of professional practice.

Qualifications for Admission


Applicants from Thailand must hold a 5-year Bachelor of Architecture degree (B.Arch.) or a 4-year Bachelor of Sciences in Architecture degree (B.S. in Architecture) that is certified by the Architect Council of Thailand. Applicants from abroad must hold an equivalent degree and certification from the country of origin. All equivalent degrees and certifications need official evidences to be approved by the Joint Degree Program Application Committee.
